SAFE HAVEN

Halloween night

We had trunk or treat at our church last night for halloween. There were several children that came by our neighborhood church all dressed up in nice costumes and not so nice costumes all begging for candy.
I had mixed feelings about even acknowledging halloween because of its evil over tones and I am a Christian. Should our church be a part of such a night of evil? As the night went on I realized it was the perfect opportunity to meet some families that need Christ in their lives. We handed out Bible verses on small pieces of paper to every child asking for candy. God's word says His word will not go out void, so that means His word was spread throughout the neighborhood last night.
Why did they come to our church last night, it was a safe haven for their children. The parents new that Christians ( unlike some other religions ) have a strong history of helping people and Christian churches being a safe haven for all to come to, so their children would be in no danger to receive candy from Christians.
I remember in the 60's when I was a child we could go from door to door to get store bought candy and even home made candy and never had to worry about being in any danger at all. But then our nation was a Christian nation meaning even if you did not go to church you still held Christian values. No longer is this true, it is a sad day in America.
I pray for our people to get on our knees before a Holy God and repent of our ways so that He may bless our nation one again.
God Bless,
Jeff
